Industry Advisory Committees

I currently am a site manager at a manned, selfserve, automated and detailing carwash site. Over the last few years i have been putting my staff, (myself included) through either Front line managment or detailing qualifications, which i have been quite happy with. But after really looking at what is involed in carrying outmy postions, and any other form of management postions, is a wide range of skills are needed to carry out the job; i.e.
Detailing; how to determine what soils or materials are on a paint surfaces and how to remove them
Managment; how to actually manage a team of employees, rostering, building and training of teams, able to assess situations and how to set out and put into action those plans, dealing with customers and customer complaints, basic sale skills,
Mechanical and Electrical basics; basic fault finding on low voltage circuits, making up wirring looms to suit different coin and note mechs, dismantling component correctly to clean them, servicing of motor, pumps and gear boxes, replacing bearings, pulleys, motors, cabeling, and other components.
Pluming; installing, servicing high pressure hoseing, repair broken PVC piping, tapping or threading solid piping, determining what size, length and thickness of piping or hosing to use for different situations
I do understand that a qualifications like this does cover a very large cross section of other qualifications and does become quite hard set out what exsactly need to be put into such a course, but in America, course very simular to this do exsist and do have quite a large following.
I also understand that such a course could all most certainly be also used in other business out side of a carwash and many of the unit covered would also cross with other forms of jobs; Caravan manufactuing and serviceing is one i know that doesnt current have a formilsed trainning package.
Hi Sam. Thank you for your feedback and comments of on the auto quals. ASA will be reviewing the content of the body qualifications in the coming months and this will include those relating to vehicle detailing and any associated roles. We will take your comments on board and will include them in discussions with our stakeholders as it is possible they share some of your points, we will also ensure the qualifications has enough flexibility so that imported units in the qualification can be used to enable the best possible fit to the workplace. On the caravan qualifications there is currently a caravan manufacture and repair qualification in the Manufacturing Skills Australia Training Package that can be used in industry.
