Welcome to the Mechanical Heavy Vehicle Industry Advisory Committee page. This page forms one of several web pages dedicated to different parts of the ASA industry advisory structure.
This page is designed to provide advice to the committee members and stakeholders more broadly on the work of the committee and the anticipated work-plan for the future. It also provides access to the Training Package Continuous Improvement Plans, which are a central element in the work of ASA and its committees.
The committee and ASA welcome feedback from stakeholders and welcome inputs into the development of the national training system and national workforce development initiatives.
Feedback from members of industry to join the Sector Advisory Committees has been very positive and a full meeting of all Committee members is planned for September 2011. Applications for Committee positions has been temporarily limited until the Committees meet and make final decisions of the full requirements of each Committee. Your feedback and continued interest in joining the Committees is welcomed and notice of any additional places that may be available will be provided throughout the year.
Mechanical Heavy Vehicle Update – December 5, 2011
Welcome, everybody, to the update for the Mechanical Heavy Vehicle sector. The last few weeks we have been heavily involved with the qualification re-structure. The sector committee and ASA have been discussing a model for this qualification and also there has been some targeted discussion around certain units of competency. Training Package Reference Groups are coming together to help with drafting the qualifications and along the way a list of stakeholders is being built across the country as part of the consultation process (to see a diagram of the Training Package Development Process Chart, please click here).
So, it has been another busy few weeks at ASA and we are enjoying the opportunity to make a real difference in Automotive training.

Currently Auto Skills Australia are reviewing the Heavy Vehicle Units of Competency.
