Training Package Continuous Improvement Register for the AUR05 Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package & AUM08 Automotive Manufacturing Training Package.

The Continuous Improvement Register (CIR) outlines key areas where review and upgrade are required in the AUR05 and AUM08 Training Packages. The identification of work required has been provided from several sources, including:

• Feedback from industry groups, associations and other key stakeholders.
• Discussions with state ITAB reference groups.
• Direct correspondence and discussions with industry personnel.

The CIR should be considered as reflecting a broad range of industry issues, most of which relate directly to the Automotive Training Packages and their associated products. Actions to address the CIR items will be undertaken in tandem with several national VET policy initiatives, not least of which is the streamlining of training packages. It is also expected that the review of automotive qualifications will align with the release of the National Training Information Service (NTIS) upgrade, the use of a new national training package design template, and access to a revised online authoring tool.

The CIR has been structured to provide detailed actions, which need to be targeted in the review process, and broader items that affect the structuring of qualifications across the package and the fundamental design of the qualifications.
Industry priority rating

In addition to the specific items raised in the CIR, there has also been a range of associated feedback provided from industry that relates to some of the underpinning features of the national training system and the implementation of vocational qualifications in the workplace. While these issues are provided here in the tables, their full content will be used to inform the review of automotive VET qualification structures and their packaging rules.

Timelines for the review of each Training Package have been estimated across the various items in the tables. In some cases, items have been referred to the Industry Advisory Groups, in particular where further analysis is needed.

The CIR will also consider fundamental and structural issues relating to automotive qualifications. It is expected that a range of principles will be developed to underpin the review of all automotive qualifications.
